At NRP we are committed to diversity and inclusiveness because we believe the differences among our employees are our strength as a company. We work hard to create an environment where employees feel empowered to bring their unique perspectives to the table every day.
We value diversity of all viewpoints, life experiences, races, ethnicities, sexual orientation, genders, and ages, and we work to ensure that all employees are treated equally.
We recognize that the diverse backgrounds of our employees are the backbone of fulfilling our mission of creating exceptional rental housing opportunities for individuals and families, regardless of income.
Our goal is to foster an environment that is inclusive and one where our colleagues feel respected and valued.
At NRP, we believe that our greatest asset is the diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences of each of our team members. We are stronger together when we celebrate each other and when our rich diversity enables us to produce the best work for the diverse groups of residents, partners and stakeholders we serve.
While our focus on diversity and inclusion at NRP started before the senseless deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor, these tragedies intensified our desire to confront systemic racism and other barriers that exist within our own company as it does in society at large. We realized we must expand our efforts to educate and activate; to educate our team on the history, root causes and daily manifestations of systemic racism; and to further activate our efforts to build diversity, equity and inclusion into the fabric of our NRP culture.
In pursuit of these goals we have begun a major education initiative and have taken the first step by providing 80 NRP team members with a three-hour training program on Racial Equity and Inclusion delivered by a team including of the Racial Equity Institute, Thirdspace Action Lab and Cleveland Neighborhood Progress. This course uses data, facts and research to articulate the contours of racial inequity in the U.S. and has proven to be eye-opening for our participants. We plan to put all 800+ NRP team members through this training and to expand our education efforts moving forward.
In conjunction with the education initiatives, our two-year-old Diversity & Inclusion committee and the vibrant Employee Resource Groups that fall under this umbrella work in tandem to shape policies and practices that support these efforts. Together, we strive to bring diverse A+ players into our organization, to provide all of our NRP team members the opportunity to fully develop and grow while feeling valued and included, and work towards building a culture that values diversity of views, life experiences, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, and age.
Our journey has just begun at NRP. We will continue to evolve our culture by energetically celebrating our differences and by striving each day to be a place where all people share in the opportunity to work, grow, dream, achieve and thrive.
