Responsibilities

NRP Investments, LLC is currently seeking an Employee Relations Manager  in the Cleveland, OH Office.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The NRP Group has experienced significant growth – nearly tripling in size (300 to over 900 employees) in the last several years, with continued growth anticipated as we move through 2021.  Reporting to an HR Director, the Employee Relations (ER) Manager is a new role for NRP responsible for partnering with the HR leadership team to establish an Employee Relations function for our growing organization.  The ER Manager will take on a lead role in evaluating current processes and approach and developing a strategy for evolving the ER function.  The individual in this position will provide managers in the business with guidance based on their expertise, including conducting investigations, advising on complex ER issues, interpreting policy and practices, and responding to complaints.  The ER Manager will develop and execute sustainable, scalable initiatives and programs that effect long-lasting changes at all levels.  The employee will work collaboratively with other members of the Human Resources team in a fast-paced environment to ensure that solutions are identified and implemented, and employee needs are addressed in a timely and effective manner.

Essential Functions Statement(s):

  • Stand-up Employee Relations function including hiring and developing team member to field manager and employee ER calls and support evolution of team. 
  • Act as a proactive consultant to the business by implementing ER strategies that include best practices through collaboration with Human Resource Business Partners (HRBPs).
  • Partner with HR Technology & Analytics Manager to establish electronic tracking system for documenting and analyzing manager and employee calls and complaints.
  • Diagnose trends and patterns of behavior with the goal of identifying solutions for strategically addressing common challenges; ability to analyze and synthesize key insights gleaned from ER data and analytics.
  • Evolve current ‘corrective action’ process to a culture focused on coaching, feedback and performance improvement, including manager coaching/consultation and preparation of necessary documentation.
  • Evaluate current leave of absence process – recommend approach for driving efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Research and respond to HR Business Partners and employee inquiries regarding complex leave of absence scenarios (ability to analyze FMLA and other state leave laws).
  • Oversee efforts to work with applicable partners and employees to support the medical accommodation process through coaching, documentation and applicable follow up.
  • Uses surveys, interviews, and other studies to conduct research regarding human resource policies, and other employment issues.
  • Researches and stays up to date on HR compliance and employment law; translates to key stakeholders to minimize risk to the organization.
  • Partner with Learning & Development to enhance ER related training for managers/leaders and to provide key learning updates for HRBPs.
  • Strong ability to build relationships and partnerships to help establish presence as the ER subject matter expert.
  • Handle all internal and external ER charges and agency requests.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

SKILLS & ABILITIES

 

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or a related field required.

 

Experience:  Minimum of seven (7) years of related HR experience, with at least three (3) in Employee Relations. In depth understanding of all aspect of employment and HR related laws, regulations, policies, principles, concepts and practices, including Title VII, ADA, ADAA & FMLA. Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies. Proven consultative skills, and the ability to assess sensitive and complex employee relations issues in a confidential, objective, and systematic manner.  Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations.

             

Technical Skills:  Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, able to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously while delivering on commitments. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Strong team, interpersonal, and persuasion skills, with demonstrated ability to influence peers, senior leaders, and across organizational lines. Proficient with Microsoft Office.
