Andrew van Zelm joined The NRP Group in 2017 as Vice President of Design and Entitlements where he primarily concentrates on market rate developments.

His responsibilities include oversight of new projects in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions as well as Florida, Georgia and Texas. In addition to taking market rate properties from design conception through final approval, van Zelm is in charge of both design project management and general project supervision.

As a land development professional for more than two decades, van Zelm has significant experience with multiple facets of real estate ventures on behalf of developers and civil land development firms. His expertise includes multifamily, mixed-use and single-family residential projects as well as commercial spaces. He has in-depth knowledge of both residential and commercial civil design including site design, grading, water and sewer systems, utilities and drainage. In addition, his years of applied practice include vetting, contracting and managing predevelopment consultants along with hiring and mentoring specialized teams of employees.

Prior to joining The NRP Group, van Zelm ran his own consulting firm for eight years, providing land development expertise regarding due diligence, feasibility, site planning, design, entitlements, budgeting and permitting at the local, state and federal levels. Before that, he worked for Fairfield Residential as a development manager, responsible for pre-contract analysis, due diligence and entitlements for multifamily and mixed-use projects ranging from 150 to over 400 units. At the beginning of his real estate career, he worked as a project engineer and later as a senior project manager where he supervised teams of engineers working on a diverse mix of multifamily, commercial and single-family developments.

Van Zelm holds a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Calgary and an executive MBA from the University of Denver.
