Cheryl Steigerwald
Senior Vice President of Design & Entitlements
Back to NRP Leadership

Cheryl Steigerwald joined The NRP Group in 2009 as an Assistant Development Project Manager and now serves as Director of Vertical Design.

Her primary focus is on maintaining portfolio-wide consistency of architectural, landscape and interior design throughout NRP’s multifamily properties across the country. She has extensive experience with different types of housing developments including Class A luxury apartments, affordable housing, student properties and senior housing. Steigerwald has particular expertise working on urban infill developments that are part of strategic neighborhood revitalization plans. As a registered architect, she actively manages design consultants in addition to developing standards and processes for internal vertical design staff.

Throughout her career at NRP, Steigerwald has held a variety of positions. Following her initial role, she became a Development Project Manager working on closing financial transactions for the NRP Development team. She then became a Senior Design Manager where she helped establish internal design management functions for contractors as the company transitioned into Class A development projects. She has been actively involved in 35 deals across 10 states, comprising over 6,500 units and worth more than $1.5 billion.

Prior to joining NRP, Steigerwald worked as a practicing architect for KA Inc., a national architectural firm focused on retail development for major real estate investment trusts. During that time, she designed shopping malls and lifestyle centers for national developers such as General Growth Properties, Simon Property Group and CBL Properties, among others. As a project manager, she led the internal design team and closely supported developer clients and design consultants.

Steigerwald earned a master’s degree in architecture and urban design from Kent State University and holds a real estate and finance certificate from Cleveland State University. She resides with her husband and daughter in Lakewood, Ohio.
