George Currall joined The NRP Group in December 2008 and became a Principal in 2016.
As Chief Investment Officer, Mr. Currall manages both the Capital Markets division and the Asset Management division for The NRP Group.
In Capital Markets, Mr. Currall leads the strategy and execution of several mission-critical functional areas. First, he and his team develop and manage all debt and equity relationships that finance NRP’s luxury, moderate-income and affordable housing pipelines; from inception through closing, construction, lease-up and stabilization or disposition. He also supervises NRP’s real estate underwriting function, which navigates projects through the firm’s intensive feasibility analysis and investment committee approval process, prior to securing capital. Finally, Mr. Currall manages the transactions of NaviStone Partners, a financial affiliate of NRP that invests in tax-exempt bonds and tax credits.
Through his leadership and vision, Mr. Currall has been instrumental in transforming NRP into a national platform for institutional capital seeking affordable and luxury assets with best-in-class development returns. During his tenure, Mr. Currall and his team have led more than 250 closings representing over $8 billion in total capitalization. Since 2010 alone, his team has facilitated the development of over 40,000 apartment units for The NRP Group by securing approximately $5.5 billion in construction financing, $1.5 billion in permanent financing, and $3 billion in equity capital.
In Asset Management, Mr. Currall oversees a team responsible for more than 25,000 stabilized multifamily units and approximately 3,000-4,000 units of affordable and luxury property dispositions annually.
Prior to joining The NRP Group, Mr. Currall spent 11 years in multifamily mortgage banking with MMA Financial, Lend Lease Mortgage Capital and Red Mortgage Capital. At MMA, he served as Principal/Head of the Taxable Debt Originations platform with oversight of permanent and construction loan program originations. At Lend Lease, Mr. Currall managed over $300 million in complex bond transactions and more than $50 million in 9% tax credit transactions from application to closing. Prior to these positions, he served as an assistant vice president at Bank One/Red Mortgage Capital, underwriting affordable housing transactions.
Mr. Currall earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Washington & Lee University and his MBA from The George Washington University.
