A Place For Us Development & NRP Group Celebrate Ground Breaking of $9 Million Senior Apartment Community
--Ground Breaking of $9 Million Senior Apartment Community
Sep 2015

Cleveland, OH—(September 18, 2015) The official ground breaking ceremony for A Place For Us apartment homes took place Friday, September 18, 2015. The 55 new garden style apartment homes located at the corner of W. 116th Street and Madison Avenue in Cleveland’s Highland Square neighborhood are designed for independent living for seniors 55 and better.

Dignitaries speaking at the event included Nickie Antonio, Ohio State Representative; Linda Krasienko, President, A Place For Us Development; Jon McKay, Housing of Grant Analyst, Ohio Housing Finance Agency; Ryan Olman, Vice President, Key Bank Development Corporation; Aaron Pechota, Sr. Vice President, Development, The NRP Group.

“This transit oriented development (TOD) is uniquely located in a mixed use neighborhood with great access to amenities,” said Aaron Pechota, Sr. Vice President, The NRP Group. “There is strong demand for high quality affordable housing for seniors that is inclusive to all. APFU will provide a wide array of amenities of physical spaces, programmatic activities and center gathering places that will welcome everyone into the community.

“We are extremely excited about this senior development which will provide needed support for aging members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community,” said Linda Krasienko, President, A Place For Us Development. “This community will provide a unique housing opportunity for an aging population that is often lacking close family relationships and suffering from isolation.”

The rail lines that once served heavy industrial properties along this corridor have been converted to the only light rail system in the state of Ohio and its West 117th RTA Rapid station is immediately across the street from the development. The 1920’s era densely developed workforce housing neighborhood still retains a lot of its walkability and charm, while the West 117th Street corridor has become a major thoroughfare that provides great access to Lake Erie, significant retail and services as well as freeway access.

"Affordable housing developments have complex capital structures with many different layers of financing. We work hard to simplify the process, bringing comprehensive solutions so that our communities achieve maximum benefit. It’s rewarding to know the result is affordable, quality housing, and we hope that the new residents of A Place for Us are equally proud," said Rob Likes, National Manager of Key’s Community Development Lending and Investing.

Developed, built and managed by The NRP Group, A Place For Us represents a $9 million investment into the community. The property was specifically designed with seniors in mind and offers newly built affordable one and two-bedroom spacious apartment homes with an array of features including fully-equipped kitchens, a large community room, fitness center, lush garden terrace, library, computer center and supportive services.
